Viking floats out newest Egypt ship
Viking Amun Set to Sail the Nile This September

SINGAPORE, 21 April 2025: Viking has officially launched its latest vessel, the Viking Amun, which is set to embark on journeys along Egypt’s Nile River starting this September. This new ship, accommodating 82 guests, will enhance Viking’s renowned 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary, offering travelers an immersive experience in one of the world’s most fascinating destinations.
Significant Milestone for Viking Amun
The Viking Amun’s float-out ceremony took place at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, marking a crucial phase in the ship’s construction. This event signifies the vessel’s transition to the outfitting dock, where final touches and interior build-out will be completed. Viking Chairman and CEO Torstein Hagen expressed enthusiasm about the new ship, stating, “Egypt is one of the world’s most captivating destinations, and we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to this extraordinary region in the coming years.”
Designed with Viking’s signature Scandinavian aesthetic, the Viking Amun features 41 staterooms and is a sister ship to others in the fleet, including the Viking Osiris and Viking Aton. The ship boasts a distinctive square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, elements that are familiar to Viking’s loyal guests. With the addition of the Viking Amun, Viking plans to expand its fleet in Egypt, introducing five new vessels over the next two years, which will bring the total to 12 ships on the Nile by 2027.
