Viking Supply Ships adds to its AHTS fleet
Viking Supply Ships Expands Fleet with New Vessel

Viking Supply Ships, led by Christen Sveaas, has announced a significant expansion of its anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) fleet. The Stenungsund-based company has finalized an agreement to acquire the Ice Class 1A vessel, Atlantic Kestrel, from Canadian firm Atlantic Towing. This strategic move enhances Viking’s operational capabilities in offshore Canada.
Details of the Acquisition
The Atlantic Kestrel, originally named Jaya Supreme, was constructed in 2012 and was the largest vessel produced by the Jaya shipyard at the time of its launch. Initially registered under the Singapore flag, the vessel has since been reflagged to facilitate its operations in Canadian waters. With a length of 85 meters, the vessel boasts powerful main engines that deliver over 16,000 brake horsepower (bhp), enabling a continuous bollard pull of 211 tonnes.
Viking Supply Ships is set to take delivery of the vessel in September 2025, at which point it will be renamed Ben Viking. This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for the company, which has transitioned away from the platform supply vessel (PSV) segment since selling its PSV fleet in January of the previous year. Following this purchase, Viking Supply Ships will operate a total of seven anchor-handling vessels, reinforcing its position in the maritime industry.
