Viking Launches New Nile River Cruise Ship

Viking Cruises has announced the launch of its latest ship, Viking Amun, which is set to sail the Nile River later this year. This new addition comes as the cruise line experiences a surge in popularity for its Egyptian voyages. Viking Amun will join a growing fleet of vessels dedicated to exploring the rich history and culture of Egypt, enhancing the travel experience for adventurous tourists.

Viking Amun: A New Era of Nile Cruises

Viking Amun, a sister ship to Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, and Viking Hathor, features 41 luxurious cabins and can accommodate up to 82 passengers. The ship is currently in the final stages of construction, following its recent float-out from dry dock. It is scheduled to make its debut in September 2025, embarking on Viking’s popular 12-day “Pharaohs & Pyramids” itinerary.

This itinerary begins with three nights in Cairo, allowing guests to explore iconic landmarks such as the pyramids and various museums. Following their stay in Cairo, travelers will take a charter flight to Luxor, where they will enjoy a seven-night cruise along the Nile River. The journey concludes with one final night in Cairo before guests return home.
