Fire Incident Aboard YM Mobility: Current Status and Ongoing Efforts
Following a fire near the front of Yang Ming’s vessel, YM Mobility, on August 9, 2024, firefighting actions were quickly initiated. As of today, there are no visible flames on the ship, and water spraying continues to keep the area cool. Thankfully, all crew members and on-site staff are safe.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by professionals. To ensure the ship’s safety, six tugboats have been sent to assist. Representatives from insurance clubs, classification societies, and surveyors are arriving at the scene to work with the authorities. Yang Ming’s technical team is providing round-the-clock support to evaluate the fire’s impact and determine if the ship can still sail.
