IRS Marks Golden Jubilee with Event Featuring Chief of Naval Staff

The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a commemorative event on August 14, 2024, in New Delhi. The event, part of a series marking the Golden Jubilee, was notably attended by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included senior officers from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Para-Military organizations, government officials, and industry representatives.

During the event, Mr. Arun Sharma, Executive Chairman of IRS, honored the organization’s founders and emphasized the pivotal role they played in establishing IRS’s commitment to maritime excellence. He highlighted the ongoing support from the Indian Navy and other government bodies, reaffirming IRS’s dedication to advancing the defense sector. Mr. Sharma also touched upon the significant changes anticipated in the maritime industry, particularly in environmental protection and emerging technologies, noting that IRS is actively enhancing its capabilities to meet these new challenges.

Admiral Tripathi, in his address, praised IRS for its rapid growth and increasing contributions to the maritime sector. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Navy and IRS in safeguarding India’s maritime interests and supporting the national goal of self-reliance. The event also featured the release of the first of three Golden Jubilee editions of the IRS magazine, “Touch of Class,” and concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. P K Mishra, Managing Director of IRS.
