KST Dragon: Powerful New Tug Arrives in Singapore for KST Maritime Operations
Last month, the KST Dragon, a strong and advanced tugboat, arrived in Singapore. This tugboat, known as the RAmparts 2500-CL, was designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Hong Kong. The KST Dragon will start work soon for KST Maritime, a company that is part of MedTug SpA, under the MSC Group. This is the first of two tugboats that KST Maritime will add to its fleet.
Unique Design and Features
The KST Dragon is not like other tugboats. It has a special hull design that makes it move better in water and handle tasks more easily. Power and Equipment

The tug has more than 70 tonnes of bollard pull, meaning it can handle tough tasks easily. It has a winch with two drums on the front, a towing hook on the back, and equipment for putting out fires on other ships.
The tug’s engines are very powerful, with two CAT 3516C diesel engines, each producing 2,000 kW of power. These engines drive a special system called the Z-drive, which helps the tug move in all directions. It also has two diesel generators that provide electricity to the boat.

The KST Dragon was built to follow strict rules from Lloyd’s Register, an important safety organization. The tugboat has a special safety rating for protected waters, and it can fight fires on other ships using water sprayed from the boat.
