AIN Group Pharmacies to Use Solar Power Under New Agreement with JERA Cross
AIN Group Partners with JERA Cross for Solar Power
AIN Holdings Inc. (AIN) and JERA Co., Inc. (through its subsidiary JERA Cross) have teamed up to introduce solar-powered electricity to AIN Group pharmacies in Kansai and Hokuriku. This will start on December 1, 2024, through a special agreement called an offsite corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
What is an Offsite Corporate PPA?
An offsite corporate PPA is a long-term contract where a company agrees to buy clean energy, like solar power, from a producer. The electricity is generated at a solar plant located away from the company’s own buildings. This means the pharmacies will benefit from green energy even though the solar power plant is not on their premises.
This is AIN Group’s first time using this type of agreement, and it marks a big step in their commitment to sustainability.
Expanding Solar Power to More Pharmacies
AIN Group plans to bring this clean energy solution to more locations in other regions, including:
- Tohoku
- Kanto
- Chubu
- Chugoku
By doing this, they expect to cut their CO2 emissions by about 1,000 tons annually. This reduction is equal to the amount of carbon absorbed by over 45,000 trees each year!
Pharmacies in Kansai and Hokuriku Leading the Way
The initial phase includes:
- Kansai Region: 85 pharmacies
- Hokuriku Region: 26 pharmacies
