Kongsberg Maritime to Deliver Advanced Ship Design & Technology for 6 PSVs

Kongsberg Maritime Partners with CMM for Sustainable Vessels

Kongsberg Maritime has announced an exciting partnership with Compagnie Maritime Monegasque (CMM). This collaboration comes after CMM secured the top position in Petrobras’ competitive tender for six advanced hybrid Platform Supply Vessels (PSV). These vessels, each with a capacity of 5,000 DWT, are designed to include oil spill recovery capabilities. This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing offshore operations while prioritizing sustainability in the maritime industry.

Innovative Vessel Design and Technology

The new vessels will feature Kongsberg Maritime’s latest design, the 92-metre UT7420. This design is part of the successful UT range, known for its advanced engineering and efficiency. Kongsberg Maritime will supply an integrated equipment package that ensures exceptional performance. The hybrid propulsion systems will significantly improve fuel efficiency compared to traditional vessels. This innovation is crucial for reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

Moreover, the vessels are designed with future upgrades in mind. They can be modified to run on ethanol fuel, which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 70%. This capability aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote greener technologies in the maritime sector. Kongsberg Maritime’s commitment to sustainability is evident in this project, as they aim to lead the way in eco-friendly offshore operations.

Atle Gaasø, Sales Director Offshore at Kongsberg Maritime, emphasized the importance of this project. He stated that it represents a significant advancement in sustainable offshore operations. The combination of innovative design and advanced technology will ensure high standards of fuel efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This project not only benefits Petrobras but also reinforces Kongsberg Maritime’s dedication to supporting Brazil’s maritime industry.
