Cruise ships typically arrive at their homeports in the early morning hours, making this delay particularly impactful.

Margaritaville at Sea promptly informed guests about the situation. They issued a notification stating, “Due to forecasted dense fog in the Tampa Bay area, the Port of Tampa Bay has temporarily closed access to the channel leading to Terminal 6.” This message urged guests to refrain from arriving at the port during their originally assigned time. Fortunately, the fog lifted by the morning, allowing the port to reopen after approximately 12 hours. The cruise line then updated guests about the adjusted procedures for embarkation.

The Margaritaville at Sea Islander is now expected to arrive at Port Tampa Bay around noon on December 31, 2024. However, guests should prepare for a four-hour delay in embarkation procedures. Arrivals to the cruise terminal will begin at 2 p.m., and guests are advised to adjust their arrival times accordingly. Additionally, checked luggage will not be accepted after 5 p.m., and terminal operations will close at 6 p.m. sharp, meaning no guests will be allowed entry after that time.
