Fishing Vessel Fire Rescued in Kattegat

On February 3, a fire broke out on the fishing vessel Musse SK961 in the Kattegat, approximately 18 miles east of Skagen, Denmark. The 18-meter-long vessel (MMSI: 219028081) was reported to be engulfed in flames, prompting a swift response from local authorities. A search and rescue operation was initiated, deploying both a rescue lifeboat and a helicopter to the scene. Fortunately, the sole crew member aboard the Musse had already been rescued by a nearby vessel before the emergency teams arrived.

Rescue and Firefighting Efforts

Upon arrival, the rescue teams found the *Musse* unmanned and ablaze. The 16.5-meter-long lifeboat *Lars Kruse* (IMO: 9217515) was dispatched to assist with firefighting efforts. Equipped with fire-fighting gear, the *Lars Kruse* worked diligently to contain the blaze. As the situation unfolded, the *Musse* drifted into Swedish waters, where the Swedish rescue service took over the firefighting operations. After several hours of effort, the fire was reported to be extinguished.

Despite being severely damaged, the *Musse* remained afloat. It was subsequently towed back to Skagen, where the fire reignited, releasing smoke into the air. Firefighters boarded the vessel once again to ensure the blaze was completely extinguished. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries related to this incident. The quick response from both Danish and Swedish authorities helped prevent a more severe disaster at sea.
