SAL Heavy Lift Unveils Streamlined Services

SAL Heavy Lift and Intermarine, part of the Harren Group, have announced a significant restructuring of their ocean services portfolio. This new alignment aims to enhance customer access to heavy lift and multipurpose shipping solutions across the globe. With a fleet of approximately 80 vessels, the revamped organization promises improved transparency and efficiency in delivering complex cargo.

Unified Brand for Enhanced Services

The recent changes integrate SAL Heavy Lift, SAL Engineering, SAL Offshore, Intermarine, and Intermarine Bulk Carriers under the single brand name SAL. This consolidation is designed to simplify customer interactions and streamline service offerings. As part of this transformation, Intermarine will now operate as SAL Intermarine, while SAL Engineering will continue to serve as the Group’s dedicated engineering unit. This unified approach is intended to provide customers with a seamless experience, ensuring safe and timely delivery of their cargo.

Dr. Martin Harren, CEO of SAL and the Harren Group, emphasized the importance of this new structure. He stated, “Our customers face very different transport challenges. Some need scheduled liner reliability in the Americas, while others require global tramp flexibility or ultra heavy lift execution. By clearly structuring our services, we reduce complexity and ensure seamless service.” This strategic alignment allows customers to access the right ships and expertise quickly, enhancing overall service delivery.

SAL’s operations will now focus on various specialized areas. SAL Heavy Lift will lead in heavy lift, ultra heavy lift, multipurpose, offshore, and bulk transport, leveraging its technical expertise and efficient fleet. SAL Intermarine will concentrate on reliable liner services in the Americas, offering regular routes across key markets, while SAL Engineering will provide comprehensive project engineering services to mitigate risks associated with complex transports.

Commitment to Innovation and Growth

The restructuring also reflects SAL’s commitment to innovation and growth within the maritime logistics sector. Recent fleet additions, including the new Orca Class heavy lift vessels, underscore the Group’s dedication to enhancing its heavy lift and multipurpose shipping capabilities. Ongoing investments in deck carriers and an expanding bulk fleet are set to further strengthen the company’s logistics offerings on a global scale.

As a member of the JSI Alliance, SAL is positioned to deliver coordinated global project coverage through trusted partnerships and access to high-spec tonnage. Dr. Harren noted that the evolution of Intermarine into SAL Intermarine retains the core values of reliability and relationships while benefiting from the broader resources of a global brand. He stated, “Our customers can expect the same trusted team and service, now backed by even broader capabilities and reach.”

With a focus on modern heavy lift tonnage, digital planning tools, and progressive safety practices, SAL Heavy Lift is poised to continue its legacy of reliability and sustainability while adapting to the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
