TechnipFMC Secures Major EPCI Contract with Eni
TechnipFMC, a leading offshore contracting firm, has secured an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contract with Italian energy giant Eni for the Coral North development project off the coast of Mozambique. This marks a significant step in the country’s push for natural gas production, as the Coral North project will be the second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility developed in the region. The contract, valued between $250 million and $500 million, involves the installation of critical infrastructure in deep water.
Details of the Coral North Project
Under the new contract, TechnipFMC will be responsible for the manufacture and installation of flexible flowlines and risers. Additionally, the company will install subsea manifolds and umbilicals at depths reaching approximately 2,000 meters. This project is pivotal for Mozambique, positioning it as a key player in the global natural gas market.

Eni’s Coral North project is slated for completion by 2028 and represents the company’s second venture in Mozambique, following the successful launch of the Coral South facility, which has been operational since 2022. Jonathan Landes, president of subsea at TechnipFMC, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Eni once more, emphasizing their commitment to applying lessons learned from the Coral South project to enhance their approach in this new endeavor.
The Coral North facility will be one of the first large-scale FLNG operations to be established in ultra-deep waters globally, further solidifying Mozambique’s emerging status as a hub for liquefied natural gas production. With significant investments and advanced technology, the project aims to boost the local economy and meet the growing demand for energy resources.
