Great Eastern Shipping Sells Jag Vishnu Gas Carrier

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has finalized a deal to sell its 2002-built Very Large Gas Carrier, Jag Vishnu, to an unaffiliated third party. The transaction is set to be completed by December 26, 2025, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026. This sale is part of a broader strategy as the company continues to manage its fleet effectively.

Fleet Management and Future Transactions

With the sale of Jag Vishnu, G E Shipping’s fleet will consist of 39 vessels, including 25 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers. The tankers comprise five crude tankers, 16 product tankers, and four LPG carriers, while the dry bulk carriers include two Capesize, 10 Kamsarmax, and two Supramax vessels. The total deadweight tonnage of the fleet is approximately 3.17 million dwt.

In addition to the sale of Jag Vishnu, G E Shipping has also contracted to acquire a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier and a secondhand Ultramax Dry Bulk Carrier. Furthermore, the company plans to sell one Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier named Jag Aarati. These transactions are expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, indicating G E Shipping’s proactive approach to fleet optimization and market positioning.

G E Shipping contracts to buy a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier

On the stock market, shares of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited were last recorded at Rs. 1106.95, slightly down from the previous close of Rs. 1108.90. During the trading session, 6,014 shares changed hands across over 555 trades, with an intraday high of Rs. 1112.50 and a low of Rs. 1097.00. The total turnover for the day reached approximately Rs. 6,642,490.00, reflecting active trading interest in the company’s stock.
