Ingalls Shipbuilding Delivers Advanced Destroyer to U.S. Navy

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Ingalls Shipbuilding has successfully delivered the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, *Ted Stevens* (DDG 128), to the U.S. Navy. This significant milestone, announced on Monday, marks the second delivery of a Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer by the shipbuilders at Ingalls. The delivery underscores the ongoing commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the U.S. Navy’s fleet.

The *Ted Stevens* is recognized as the most advanced variant of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, which are vital assets for maritime security. Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Blanchette emphasized the importance of this delivery, stating, “The delivery of *Ted Stevens* reflects the strong momentum of our destroyer program as we accelerate Flight III production and bring enhanced capabilities to the fleet.” He expressed pride in contributing to the U.S. Navy’s strength and security for years to come.

Ongoing Production and Future Plans

Ingalls Shipbuilding has a robust production schedule for the Flight III destroyers, with four additional vessels currently under fabrication. These include *Jeremiah Denton* (DDG 129), *George M. Neal* (DDG 131), *Sam Nunn* (DDG 133), and *Thad Cochran* (DDG 135). Furthermore, another seven Flight III destroyers are in the early stages of construction planning, indicating a strong future for the program.

To date, Ingalls has delivered a total of 36 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers to the U.S. Navy. This includes the first Flight III destroyer, *USS Jack H. Lucas* (DDG 125), along with the newly delivered *Ted Stevens*. The ongoing production of these advanced destroyers is crucial for maintaining the U.S. Navy’s operational readiness and technological edge in maritime defense.
