Construction Begins on Lahore Canal Ship Restaurant Project
LAHORE – The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore has officially commenced construction on the highly anticipated Canal Ship Restaurant project. This initiative promises to enhance the recreational landscape for both residents and visitors in Lahore. Managing Director of PHA Lahore, Raja Mansoor Ahmed, announced the start of construction during a recent site visit, where he was briefed on the project’s progress by Director Finance Ahmed Saeed Manj and Director Engineering Usman Riaz.
The Canal Ship Restaurant is set to be completed within the current financial year, marking a significant milestone for the city. The project aims to transform the Lahore Canal into a vibrant dining and leisure destination. As part of the development, the canal’s depth will be increased from 7 feet to 13 feet, and its width will be expanded to 30 feet. This enhancement is crucial for ensuring the safety and functionality of the restaurant. NESPAK has been appointed as the project consultant, while the Irrigation Department is also involved to ensure compliance with technical standards and safety regulations.
A Vision for Modern Recreation
Raja Mansoor Ahmed emphasized that the Ship Restaurant aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He highlighted the importance of the project as a flagship initiative of the Punjab government, focusing on its timely completion. The three-storey Ship Restaurant will be situated along the Lahore Canal and is designed to accommodate up to 80 guests at a time. This modern facility aims to provide a state-of-the-art recreational experience, combining dining with scenic views of the canal.
