Venergy Maritime Expands Fleet with New MR Tanker Orders
Venergy Maritime, a rapidly growing Greek shipping company, is advancing its fleet expansion strategy by securing additional orders for medium-range (MR) product tankers from South Korea. Founded in 2021 and led by Vyron Vasileiadis, Venergy has primarily concentrated on the product tanker segment. Currently, the company operates three modern MR tankers and is executing a firm newbuilding program for four additional vessels at K Shipbuilding, with deliveries scheduled through 2027.
Recently, K Shipbuilding announced a new contract with a European shipowner for two firm MR tankers, along with two optional units, each with a capacity of 50,000 deadweight tons (dwt). This deal, widely associated with Venergy, is valued at approximately $200 million, translating to around $50 million per vessel. The latest firm orders are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2027, further solidifying Venergy’s commitment to developing a modern and fuel-efficient fleet.
Diversification and Broader Expansion Plans
The recent tanker orders are part of Venergy’s broader strategy to diversify its operations. The company is not only focused on product tankers but is also expanding into other shipping segments. Last year, Venergy’s sister company, OceanV, entered the containership market by placing an order for up to four feeder vessels, each with a capacity of 1,900 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) at CSSC’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in China. This contract includes two firm orders and two options, showcasing the group’s ambition to broaden its shipping portfolio.
Operating under the umbrella of the Vasileiadis Group, Venergy Maritime is part of a larger network of businesses that includes port reception facilities, waste management, renewable energy, and alternative fuels. This diverse background informs the company’s cautious yet steady approach to expansion in the maritime sector. Additionally, Venergy has also placed orders for LR2 tankers in China, with options for two more vessels, further enhancing its presence across multiple shipping segments.
HMM Continues Growing Dry Bulk as Part of Diversification Strategy
As Venergy Maritime continues to grow, its focus on modern, efficient vessels and strategic diversification positions it well within the competitive landscape of the shipping industry. The company’s ongoing commitment to fleet expansion and sustainability reflects a proactive approach to meeting the evolving demands of global shipping.
