Urgent Medical Evacuation at Sea: RSAF Responds Swiftly

SINGAPORE – A crew member aboard a bulk carrier required immediate medical assistance while at sea and was successfully evacuated by a rescue helicopter on February 24. The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) deployed a Rescue 10 H225M Medium Lift helicopter to facilitate the urgent transfer of the crew member to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

The RSAF confirmed the activation of the rescue operation in a Facebook post, detailing that the Rescue 10 team was mobilized around 4:40 PM that day. The search-and-rescue team monitored the crew member’s vital signs during the flight to ensure their safety and well-being. Upon arrival at SGH, the crew member was reported to be conscious and in stable condition, providing relief to both the medical team and the crew’s family.

The RSAF expressed gratitude towards its aircrew and the healthcare professionals at SGH, acknowledging their readiness to respond to emergencies around the clock. Their swift action underscores the importance of coordinated efforts in maritime rescue operations.
