Ferry ‘Lote’ Grounds at Skarberget, All Passengers Safe
On February 28, 2026, the ferry ‘Lote’, while traveling between Skarberget and Bognes, ran aground at Skarberget in Nordland around 2:25 p.m. There were 18 individuals on board, consisting of 11 passengers and 7 crew members. Fortunately, there was no immediate danger to anyone on the vessel. The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR) lifeboat ‘Sundt Flyer’ was stationed nearby in Skarberget and was ready to assist if needed.
The shipping company quickly acted to secure tugboats for the stranded ferry. In addition, two coast guard vessels were dispatched to the scene to provide support. The ferry was successfully refloated during the high tide at 9:31 p.m. with the help of the tug ‘Boss’ (IMO: 910875) and the NSSR lifeboat. Once refloated, the ferry was transported to the quay where passengers were safely disembarked. The tug ‘BB Connector’ (IMO: 9451549) was also present to assist in the operation.
After the incident, the ‘Lote’ was temporarily blocking the quay for the ferry ‘Glutra’ until the morning of March 1. Following this, the grounded ferry was taken to Lødingen Mekaniske shipyard for necessary repairs. In response to the service disruption, operator Fjord 1 began efforts to find a replacement ferry and arranged extra departures on the Drag-Kjøpsvik route to accommodate affected passengers.
