Ukrainian Drone Attacks Target Tuapse Port, Leaving Casualties and Damage

In a series of drone strikes, the Ukrainian military has targeted the port of Tuapse, causing significant casualties and damage. On the night of April 16, a Ukrainian drone attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to seven others. The assault struck a Liberian-flagged oil tanker and impacted the city’s infrastructure. The captain of the tanker sustained injuries that required hospitalization, while a fire on board the vessel was quickly contained and extinguished. Additionally, the Rosneft-owned oil refinery, located just eight kilometers from the port, also faced damage during the attack. Firefighting efforts were underway at the marine terminal to control the situation.

Continued Assaults on Tuapse Port

On November 10, Ukrainian naval drones once again targeted the port of Tuapse. This latest strike ignited a fire on a ship and inflicted damage to the port’s infrastructure, with witnesses reporting powerful explosions. Russian officials confirmed the drone boat attack, which follows a previous strike on November 2 that had already halted fuel exports from the harbor. The local oil refinery suspended operations due to the earlier attack. This recent drone assault is part of Ukraine’s broader deep-strike campaign, which utilizes long-range aerial and naval drones to strike at Russian military and fuel infrastructure in both Russia and occupied territories. The campaign aims to disrupt Russia’s logistics and military fuel supply, while also cutting off revenues that support its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Oil refineries have emerged as prime targets in this strategy, reflecting the concerted effort to weaken Russia’s war economy.
