Bureau Veritas Launches Offshore Center of Excellence in Asia Pacific
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), a prominent global entity in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC), has unveiled its Offshore Center of Excellence in the Asia Pacific region. This initiative aims to bolster the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of offshore energy projects, addressing the increasing global energy demand. The center will leverage BV’s extensive regional capabilities, with teams stationed in Singapore, Shanghai, and Kuala Lumpur, to provide expert support for both offshore oil and gas projects and the burgeoning offshore renewable energy sector.
As the scale and complexity of offshore energy projects expand—encompassing oil and gas, offshore wind, and emerging energy sectors—the demand for coordinated, multidisciplinary expertise across the entire supply chain intensifies. The Offshore Center of Excellence serves as a centralized hub of expertise, facilitating support for a diverse range of offshore assets. This strategic move comes at a crucial time when shifting trade dynamics are straining global supply chains, making resilient, regionally anchored expertise in offshore energy more vital than ever.

The Offshore Center of Excellence is equipped to support a wide array of offshore assets, including Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSOs), Floating Storage and Offloading units (FSOs), Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRUs), Floating Liquefied Natural Gas units (FLNGs), floating wind turbines, and drilling units. Backed by the broader capabilities of Bureau Veritas Group, the center offers a comprehensive suite of services that includes classification, certification, verification, and advisory services. These services encompass regulatory compliance support, hydrodynamic and structural analyses, safety studies, new technology qualification, sustainability advisory, and cybersecurity services.
Dr. Rongrong Jiang leads the dedicated team of offshore specialists at the center, combining locally accessible resources with BV’s global network of industry experts. With over 50 years of offshore experience, BV has contributed to approximately 250 floating assets worldwide, including 150 certified platforms in the North Sea and Asia. Recent notable projects include the classification of CNOOC’s Kaiping FPSO, recognized as the largest cylindrical FPSO in the Asia Pacific, the Alam Guyub FLNG, Indonesia’s first FLNG project, and OceanSTAR’s inaugural FPSO in Malaysia, Sepat.
Bureau Veritas supports clients throughout the entire offshore energy value chain, from early-stage feasibility studies and site assessments to technical due diligence, design, construction, and in-service operations.
