Toddler Injured Aboard Mein Schiff 7 in Madeira

An emergency situation unfolded aboard the cruise ship ‘Mein Schiff 7‘ on April 22, 2026, while it was docked in the port of Funchal, Madeira. A two-year-old child fell from a height of two to three meters, prompting immediate medical intervention. Ship doctors were quick to respond, and local emergency services were notified. The child received initial treatment on the cruise ship before being transported to a hospital for further care. Fortunately, the child was conscious when emergency services arrived.

According to Madeira port authorities, the regional integrated medical emergency system was activated to ensure proper care. The circumstances surrounding the fall are currently under investigation, with cooperation from relevant authorities. TUI Cruises, the operator of ‘Mein Schiff 7,’ reported that the child was never in critical condition and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. The child was kept in the hospital for routine observation but was reported to be doing well and surrounded by family.

The ‘Mein Schiff 7’ was concluding its last cruise of the 2025/26 winter season in the Canary Islands. The ship remained in Madeira until April 23 at noon before continuing its journey back towards the Canary Islands. The planned ports of call included La Palma, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura, with the voyage set to conclude in Gran Canaria.
