Bureau Veritas Classifies New Crude/Product Oil Tanker M/T MODI
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has officially classified the M/T MODI, a 73,500 DWT crude/product oil tanker, built by New Times Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (NTS) for Dynacom. The vessel was delivered in June and represents an exclusive design by NTS, which holds full intellectual property rights. M/T MODI is engineered to combine high cargo capacity with operational flexibility, addressing the growing demands of the global shipping market for enhanced efficiency and environmental performance.
The M/T MODI measures 228.00 meters in overall length, with a molded breadth of 32.20 meters, a molded depth of 20.80 meters, and a design draft of 12.20 meters. It is designed for worldwide trading and meets the requirements of both the original and expanded Panama Canal. The vessel adheres to current and future environmental protection standards, ensuring safety and operational performance.
Commitment to Environmental Stewardship and Innovation
M/T MODI has been awarded BV’s CLEANSHIP and GREEN PASSPORT EU class notations, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship throughout its lifecycle, from operation to recycling. The vessel is also BIOFUEL-READY, allowing for the future use of sustainable biofuels to help reduce carbon emissions.
In addition to its environmental features, M/T MODI incorporates advanced technology to enhance digital resilience and operational safety. It complies with BV’s CYBER RESILIENT requirements and has received the SYS-NEQ-1 (One Man Bridge Control) notation. The vessel also features AUT-PORT (Auto-docking) functionality, which supports a high level of bridge automation and improves operational efficiency. Furthermore, the vessel’s LNGFUEL-PREPARED design facilitates a potential future conversion to LNG propulsion, aligning with industry trends towards cleaner energy sources.
