This visit aimed to highlight the company’s commitment to decarbonization and sustainable practices within the automotive and shipping industries.

During their visit, the delegation toured the LNG-fueled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Wild Rose Leader, operated by the NYK Group. Accompanied by the vessel’s captain and chief engineer, the officials explored key areas of the ship, including the bridge and engine room. The three-hour visit included a detailed overview of the NYK Group’s decarbonization strategy. Officials were informed about the company’s advocacy efforts toward the European Union (EU) to support these initiatives. ICO showcased its advanced decarbonization measures, which include on-site wind power generation facilities and a shore power system for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels that utilize renewable energy sources. These technologies illustrate ICO’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint in the shipping sector.

During the tour of the Wild Rose Leader, the delegation learned about the NYK Group’s ongoing efforts to develop next-generation fuels. The shipping industry is undergoing a significant transition toward decarbonization, and these advancements are crucial for meeting future environmental standards.
