ABS Expands Presence in Western Australia to Support Growing Port Hedland Operations

ABS has strengthened its presence in Western Australia by establishing a physical office in Port Hedland, a key trading hub for dry bulk minerals. This expansion adds to ABS’s existing network of locations across Australia, including Perth, Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Port Hedland, located in the Pilbara region of northwest Australia, is the world’s largest iron ore export port. The region is currently investing heavily in projects aimed at supporting the energy transition to achieve net-zero emissions. These initiatives include the development of a multi-million-dollar hydrogen hub, expansion of port infrastructure, and clean energy job training programs.

The Pilbara region has long been an important international trading zone, and ABS has traditionally served its clients in Port Hedland by traveling from other offices. However, with the significant growth in port activities and the government’s investments in both traditional and renewable energy sectors, ABS has decided to establish a permanent presence in the area. The new office will enable ABS to better support its clients and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of bulk carriers, which form a substantial part of its classed fleet.
