Castor Maritime adds modern kamsarmax in $30m deal

Castor Maritime Buys Another Ship, Expanding Its Fleet

Castor Maritime, a shipping company based in Cyprus, has bought its second ship in less than a month. This time, it has purchased a modern kamsarmax ship, which is a type of large bulk carrier used to transport goods like grain or coal. The company, listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange, announced that it made a deal for $29.95 million with a company that is not connected to them. The name of the ship has not been revealed yet, but it was built in 2020.

Castor Maritime will use cash from its own funds to pay for this new ship. The company expects to get the ship in October, though no other details were shared. Once this new ship is delivered, Castor Maritime will own a total of 13 ships. Four of these ships are kamsarmaxes.

Earlier this month, Castor also bought another ship. It was a 1,850 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) container ship, built in 2009, for $16.49 million. The company’s CEO, Petros Panagiotidis, continues to grow the fleet, making Castor Maritime a key player in the shipping industry.
