Introducing the Cat® G3520: Advanced Natural-Gas Generator for Mission-Critical Power with Lower Emissions
As a third-party, we are pleased to share that Caterpillar Inc. has introduced the Cat® G3520 Fast Response natural-gas generator set, specifically designed for 50 Hz mission-critical applications. This generator set offers superior load acceptance and transient response, making it a strong contender in the market for operations requiring reliable power with reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set is well-suited for various applications, including hospitals, data centers, retail complexes, educational institutions, government facilities, and industrial research centers.
Now available through Cat dealers globally, the Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set delivers 2.6 MW (3250 kVA) for emergency standby and demand response. It meets the ISO8528-5 G2 standard and can start and accept load within 10 seconds, recovering from a 100% block load with ease.

Melissa Busen, Vice President of Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division, emphasized that this product provides a sustainable and high-performance power option, aligning with the global shift towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
This addition to Caterpillar’s portfolio enhances their offerings in natural-gas power solutions, with 60 Hz standby power nodes ranging from 750 kW to 2.5 MW, certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for various applications.
The Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set includes Caterpillar’s EMCP 4 control system, ensuring comprehensive control, protection, and monitoring. With Ethernet communication for easy integration into building management systems, the generator set also features a gas train, package-mounted radiators, and simplified wiring for hassle-free installation.
Additionally, the Cat G3520 can be enhanced with the Cat Energy Control System (ECS), a suite of integrated, connected, and scalable controllers, allowing for optimized energy management across various power generation sources.
