CMA CGM, Zespri commission study on low emissions shipping corridor

CMA CGM and Zespri Study Low-Emissions Shipping Route from New Zealand to Europe

CMA CGM and Zespri Plan Low-Emissions Shipping Route from New Zealand to Belgium

CMA CGM, a big name in shipping, has started a study to check if it’s possible to create a low-emissions shipping route. This plan is being made together with Zespri, the world’s largest seller of kiwifruit. They want to find ways to make shipping better for the environment.

Recently, Matt Doocey, New Zealand’s associate transport minister, helped kick off this important project. The goal of the study is to explore setting up a shipping route, called a corridor, from Tauranga in New Zealand to Zeebrugge in Belgium. The ships would travel through the Panama Canal. This new shipping path could reduce pollution and make moving kiwifruit between these countries more eco-friendly.

ANL/CMA CGM is a key shipping partner for Zespri. Zespri sells kiwifruit in over 50 countries, and their growers are based in different parts of the world, including Australia, Europe, and Asia. By creating a greener shipping route, they hope to continue delivering fresh kiwifruit around the world while reducing harm to the environment.

This study is a big step toward making global shipping cleaner and greener. If successful, this low-emissions route could be a model for other shipping lanes in the future.
