Concerning misconduct of Kawasaki Heavy Industries

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. declared on August 21st that it had found evidence of misconduct with reference to shop trials for its two-stroke diesel engines used in commercial marine boats.

Around 50% of the 673 engines that were exposed to misconduct, according to the company, were placed on vessels registered under the ClassNK.

The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) has also been informed of this misbehaviour. As the regulating body, each flag state will collaborate with ClassNK to conduct an investigation into the facts and guarantee the safety and environmental performance of the impacted engines.
