GE Shipping Welcomes New Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has officially taken delivery of the Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier “Jag Abhishek,” a significant addition to its fleet. The vessel, built in Japan in 2014, boasts a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of approximately 81,094. This acquisition was finalized on April 30, 2026, following a contract established in the fourth quarter of FY26. Notably, the purchase was financed entirely through the company’s internal accruals, reflecting GE Shipping’s strong financial position.

With the addition of “Jag Abhishek,” GE Shipping’s owned fleet now comprises 41 vessels. This diverse fleet includes 26 tankers, which are categorized into five crude tankers, 17 product tankers, and four LPG carriers. Additionally, the fleet features 15 dry bulk carriers, consisting of two Capesize, ten Kamsarmax, one Ultramax, and two Supramax vessels. The company reports a total aggregate deadweight tonnage of 3.28 million dwt, with nearly 100% capacity utilization, indicating robust operational efficiency.

Strategic Fleet Expansion and Future Transactions

In addition to the acquisition of “Jag Abhishek,” GE Shipping is actively pursuing further fleet expansion. The company has entered into agreements to purchase a secondhand Medium Range Tanker. Concurrently, it plans to sell two of its existing Medium Range Tankers, “Jag Prakash” and “Jag Pankhi.” These transactions are expected to be completed in the first quarter of FY27, signaling GE Shipping’s strategic approach to fleet management and optimization.
