TotalEnergies Boosts Fleet Efficiency with LR OneOcean
Lloyd’s Register OneOcean (LR OneOcean) has partnered with TotalEnergies to enhance its shipping operations through advanced route optimization technology. This collaboration introduces LR OneOcean’s Route Optimisation solution, which integrates expert oversight with cutting-edge machine learning for improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Early results from the initiative indicate significant fuel savings and a decrease in carbon emissions across TotalEnergies’ chartered fleet.
Innovative Technology for Sustainable Shipping
TotalEnergies has implemented LR OneOcean’s Route Optimisation solution, which combines the expertise of master mariners with sophisticated machine learning algorithms. This technology analyzes high-frequency vessel data alongside noon-reported data to create precise fuel consumption models. By leveraging insights from the Vessel Operations team, the system can simulate and enhance fuel efficiency for each voyage, allowing TotalEnergies to make informed operational decisions.
The initial outcomes of this collaboration are promising. During a trial phase before full implementation, TotalEnergies reported a remarkable reduction of 725 metric tonnes in fuel consumption and a decrease of 2,256 metric tonnes in CO2 emissions across its chartered fleet. These results underscore the potential of the Route Optimisation solution to significantly lower the environmental impact of shipping operations.
