Lloyd’s Register Secures Key Contract for Australian Frigates

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has been awarded a significant contract by BAE Systems Maritime Australia (BAESMA) to provide Naval Classification New Construction Services for the first three Royal Australian Navy Hunter class frigates. These advanced vessels, designed based on the UK Type 26 frigate, are currently under construction at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia. The contract ensures that the frigates meet stringent international standards for quality, safety, and reliability throughout their development.
Ensuring Compliance and Safety Standards
Under the terms of the contract, Lloyd’s Register will oversee the design and construction processes to ensure compliance with its Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Naval Ships. This oversight is crucial for the anti-submarine warfare capabilities of the Hunter class frigates. The contract will remain in effect until the third ship is officially commissioned, guaranteeing that all three vessels adhere to the highest international ship standards.
