Posidonia 2026: Shipping Show Expands to Nearly a Month
The upcoming Posidonia 2026 is set to make history as the world’s longest shipping event, stretching across nearly a month of activities. While the official Posidonia Week will take place from June 1 to 5, the festivities will kick off in early May, transforming the event into an extensive celebration of the maritime industry. Organizers expect significant participation, with thousands of exhibitors and visitors from approximately 140 countries descending upon Athens.
Record-Breaking Engagement and Activities
Posidonia 2026 will feature a robust program of conferences, meetings, and networking events that will begin weeks before the exhibition itself. All 50,000 square meters of exhibition space at the Metropolitan Expo have been sold out months ahead of time, indicating a strong interest in the event. Theodore Vokos, managing director of Posidonia Exhibitions, highlighted the growing economic and business impact of the event, noting that activities now commence nearly three weeks prior to the official opening.
The extensive calendar of events aims to create a vibrant atmosphere for attendees and exhibitors alike. Vokos emphasized that the increase in pre-Posidonia engagements reflects the event’s expanding footprint, with more industry gatherings being scheduled in the lead-up to the main event. These activities are designed to foster connections within the global maritime community, setting a collaborative tone for the exhibition.

Additionally, the social aspect of Posidonia is evolving, with a variety of recreational activities planned for participants. The event will again host the Posidonia Games, featuring sports such as sailing, football, basketball, golf, and running. A new highlight for 2026 is the Posidonia Tour, a long-distance cycling challenge from central Athens to Cape Sounion, which is expected to attract around 300 participants. This combination of professional and social events showcases Posidonia’s commitment to being a comprehensive gathering for the maritime sector.
