Saipem awarded an offshore EPC contract in Qatar worth approximately 4 billion USD

Saipem Wins $4 Billion Contract to Help Sustain Qatar’s North Field Natural Gas Production

Saipem, a company that designs and builds energy projects, has been awarded a big contract worth $4 billion by QatarEnergy LNG. The project is for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Program, which aims to keep the North Field offshore natural gas reservoir running smoothly. This natural gas field is located off the north-east coast of Qatar.

What Saipem Will Do

Saipem’s job in this project is to design, buy materials, and build six new platforms. They will also install about 100 kilometers of special, long-lasting subsea pipelines. These pipelines will have diameters of 28 inches and 24 inches. On top of that, they will lay 100 kilometers of special composite cables and 150 kilometers of fiber optic cables under the sea. Saipem will also set up other important subsea systems to support the gas production.

This contract is not Saipem’s first job in Qatar. In October 2022, Saipem won another important contract for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Complexes Project (called COMP 2). That project is still going on, and this new contract shows how much Saipem has become a trusted partner for energy projects in Qatar.
