Singapore-based X-Press Feeders launches second green methanol-powered feeder route

X-Press Feeders Expands Green Methanol-Powered Shipping Network with GBX Route

The Green Baltic X-PRESS (GBX), X-Press Feeders, a maritime container shipping firm based in Singapore, is the company’s second route that runs on green methanol. This project is a component of the European Union’s first scheduled feeder network powered by sustainable fuel, which was previously introduced in July as the Green Finland X-PRESS (GFX). The company’s continued efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation methods have reached a significant milestone with the inclusion of the GBX route.

The expansion of this green network was enabled by the arrival of X-Press Feeders’ third dual-fuel vessel, the Eco-Umande, joining the Eco-Maestro and Eco-Levant. These vessels are equipped with advanced technologies, allowing them to operate on green methanol, a renewable marine fuel that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. With a capacity of 1,260 TEU each, these ships enhance the company’s ability to lead in sustainable maritime transportation.

Considering the impending Fuel EU Maritime regulations and the EU’s emissions trading program, among other regulatory demands, X-Press Feeders has positioned its new network strategically in the Port of Rotterdam. Additionally, the company is working with a number of important European ports, including as Klaipeda, Bruges, and Antwerp, to facilitate the expansion of green methanol refuelling infrastructure. In the future, X-Press Feeders hopes to develop its green methanol-powered routes even more, carrying out its objective of offering environmentally friendly transportation options throughout Europe.
