WindWings® 20 & 24 launched for smaller vessels

BAR Technologies Broadens WindWings® Portfolio with New 20-24m Models to Enhance Fuel Efficiency Across Smaller Vessels

BAR Technologies has expanded its WindWings® portfolio by introducing new 20m and 24m models, catering to a wider range of vessels, including handysize bulkers, chemical tankers, and smaller ships. This development follows the global success of their original 37.5m WindWings®, which set new standards in fuel efficiency and emissions reduction. The new, more compact models maintain the same innovative design, promising significant fuel savings—approximately 0.7 tonnes per WindWing® per day—making wind-assisted propulsion technology more accessible to diverse fleets.

The demand for these new models is driven by shipowners aiming to meet the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) 2030 emissions reduction targets. Early adoption of WindWings® has shown a 32% reduction in energy use per nautical mile, solidifying its role in achieving global decarbonization goals. As a result, several shipowners are already in discussions to integrate these models into their existing fleets, underscoring the market’s recognition of WindWings® as a practical solution for environmental sustainability.

Manufactured in China and Spain, the new WindWings® models will align with increasing global regulatory demands, such as the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). With this expansion, BAR Technologies continues to lead in maritime innovation, offering scalable and adaptable solutions that meet the evolving needs of the global shipping industry.
