What To Expect From Owensboro’s Haunted Pirate Ship Experience

Owensboro's Halloween Extravaganza: Haunted Pirate Ship Unveiled

In a thrilling evolution of Halloween festivities, Daymon Ward of Owensboro has taken his passion for the spooky season to new heights. After successfully creating a functional haunted roller coaster in his front yard last year, Ward has now constructed an impressive haunted pirate ship, measuring nearly 50 feet long. This year’s attraction promises to deliver an unforgettable experience, complete with interactive shows and special effects, opening to the public on October 3rd.

From Roller Coaster to Haunted Pirate Ship

Daymon Ward’s journey into Halloween creativity began in 2022 when he built a working haunted roller coaster that quickly became a local sensation. The success of that project inspired him and his wife, Karla, to expand their Halloween display. In 2023, they introduced a full-size haunted house, Deadwood Manor, which captivated visitors with its eerie atmosphere and thrilling scares.

This year, Ward has outdone himself by constructing a haunted pirate ship, inspired by a design he found online. Initially planned to be 37 feet long, the final product measures almost 50 feet, towering over their home. The ship features custom-made flags, crafted by Ward himself, showcasing a pirate skull and crossbones. The attention to detail is evident, as the ship is not only a visual spectacle but also a hub of interactive entertainment.

Deadwood Manor 2025 will open its doors on Friday, October 3rd, with shows scheduled every Friday and Saturday throughout October. The main event, titled “The Pirates of the Deadwood Sea,” will feature three showtimes each evening at 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, and 8:00 PM. Each performance lasts ten minutes and includes thrilling elements such as music from popular franchises like Star Wars and The Pirates of the Caribbean, alongside dramatic special effects like CO2 cannon blasts, fog, and fireballs.

Exciting Attractions Await Visitors

The haunted pirate ship is equipped with two CO2 cannons that will create an immersive experience for the audience, shooting air and smoke into the air. Additionally, the ship boasts a massive interior fog machine and four flame towers that will launch live fireballs, enhancing the excitement of the shows. Daymon is currently testing these effects to ensure everything is ready for the grand opening.

Local resident Ava Thomson, a young fan of Deadwood Manor, had the opportunity to preview the pyrotechnics and expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “That is so freaking cool.” Alongside the pirate ship, the beloved haunted house will return, promising even more surprises for returning guests.

Deadwood Manor is located at 4661 Thruston Dermont Road in Owensboro, and with its innovative attractions, it is set to become a must-visit destination this Halloween season.
