Viking Expands India River Voyages for 2027-2029

Viking has announced new booking dates for its river voyages in India, extending into 2027, 2028, and 2029. This expansion coincides with the construction of a second specialized ship, the Viking Ganges, which is set to debut in 2028. The addition of this vessel will double Viking’s capacity on the Brahmaputra River, enhancing travel options for guests eager to explore the region.

Introducing the Viking Ganges

The Viking Ganges, currently under construction, will join the existing Viking Brahmaputra to offer a total of 160 guest accommodations across both ships. Each vessel features 40 staterooms equipped with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, hotel-style beds, and private outdoor verandas, ensuring a luxurious experience. The Viking Ganges will be 246 feet long and staffed by a crew of 54, providing attentive service in light-filled public spaces that offer panoramic views of northeastern India’s stunning landscapes.

Viking’s chairman and CEO, Torstein Hagen, expressed enthusiasm about the new voyages, stating, “Since announcing our new river voyages in India, we have seen strong interest from guests eager to explore this remarkable region.” He emphasized that the addition of the second ship and the opening of 2029 departure dates will allow even more travelers to experience India in Viking’s signature comfort.
