SulNOx, the green fueltech group active in shipping, mining and road transport, has concluded a successful extended trial with Caspian Marine Services B.V.
The UK-listed company, which helps industry reduce emissions, lower fuel costs and meet sustainability targets, supplied two CMS offshore support vessels in a long-term evaluation of the SulNOxEcoTM fuel conditioner. Both vessels saw improved consumption, prompting the trial being extended to a third vessel.
SulNOX has typically achieved fuel savings of 5% to 10% with operators piloting SulNOxEco conditioner. Overall, SulNOxEco is presently in active trials or discussions with companies representing close to 6,000 vessels.
Marfin Management expanded its trial after initial tests cut bunker consumption by more than 6% and its CEO has since joined the board of SulNOx. Greece’s Seanergy and Spring Marine are both looking to adopt SulNOx products in their fleets to reduce fuel consumption and cut emissions.
CMS operates a fleet of more than 25 offshore marine support vessels, serving the oil and gas exploration and production industry. It charters many of its ships to large oil majors.
Establlished in 2006 in Baku, the capital city and main shipping centre of Azerbaijan, CMS now has vessels strategically deployed offshore in the Caspian Sea. The group provides a broad range of offshore support services in the region.

SulNOx also aims to deliver significant environmental benefits from reductions in greenhouse gas and particulate matter. The CMS trial presents, through shipping, a locally-proven greentech innovation adoption ahead of the COP29 climate summit in Baku in November.
